
Julia Fiedorczuk is a Polish writer and poet who teaches at Warsaw University. She writes about how people connect with nature and the environment. She believes that literature has the power to help us understand and shape our world. She has written many books, including novels like Under the Sun and The House of Orion, as well as poetry collections. Her latest poetry book is called Glyph (2024). She also writes essays about environmental topics in literature. Her work has won several important awards in Poland, including the Szymborska Prize in 2018. One of her poetry books, Oxygen, was translated into English and recognised for a major American translation award. Julia performs her work at literary festivals around the world, and her books have been translated into more than 20 languages, including English, German, Spanish, Chinese, and many others. She also writes columns for a popular Polish magazine called Polityka and appears on Polish radio poetry programmes. At Warsaw University, she helped create a centre that studies how literature relates to environmental issues, combining her interests in writing and caring for our planet.
